YourGoodSkin is a brand new skincare line, developed by dermatologists and tested on thousands of women, according to their website. They claim to bring products to the market that help create a balanced skin for women. They also claim that after 28 days use, the skin will appear healthier by reducing excess oil and dryness while boosting radiance, tone, and texture.

YourGoodSkin highlight their ‘key ingredients’ to be Green Tea, Vitamin C & Bisabolol. However, these ingredients are not technically ‘key ingredients’ in terms of volume as they are low down on the list of ingredients. In fact, green tea is the last ingredient present in the product which leads me to believe the ‘key ingredients’ aren’t at a particularly impressive concentration.

There are other products, including cleansers, on the market that have green tea within the first five ingredients which would be more beneficial if that’s the ingredient you’re specifically looking for.

In my personal view, I don’t see much point in using antioxidants such as green tea and vitamin c in the cleansing stages, especially on a first cleanse. All that goodness will be washed down the drain or wiped off your face. I’d rather get the most out of antioxidants in a serum or a cream. For that reason, the low concentration of the ‘key ingredients’ doesn’t bother me in this cleanser.

YourGoodSkin Comforting Gel Cleanser comes in a white bottle with gold and black text. The product looks pretty classy and sophisticated on the shelf. It has a flip cap lid which is easy to open and for dispensing the gel. There’s quite a lot of text on the back of the bottle which can make it hard to locate the important information, but it’s all there. They don’t advise any storage guidelines, so I just keep it next to my sink.

How to use

Rub the gel into dry skin in circular motions to break up make-up and dirt and wash away. Try not to get directly in your eyes, it stings. Trust me, I’ve been there.

Thoughts

A lot goes a long way with other oil-based cleansers such as The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing butter but I find I have to use quite a lot of the YourGoodSkin Comforting Gel Cleanser to see any sort of ‘melting away’ of makeup and dirt. Even if I squeeze out a lot of product and it feels heavy going on to the skin, it doesn’t seem to pick up make-up. It almost just feels as though it’s being rubbed into the skin, which is obviously not the goal.

It does remove stubborn waterproof mascara though, which is good, but unfortunately not as good as other cleansers on the market.

When washing the product off, I’m not overly convinced that it’s all gone, so I then use a second cleanser for a good thorough wash.

I wouldn’t personally use this as the first and only cleanse unless you’re using a warm, wet flannel to remove the product but even then I can still feel a slight film on my skin. As someone with acne prone skin, I’m overly paranoid about oils and dirt clogging my pores. I also have rosacea and I don’t like to use flannels as they can encourage redness.

I picked this product up because it didn’t appear to have a massive list of ingredients. Also,YourGoodSkin doesn’t use any parabens, if that’s a concern of yours. I’m most appreciative that they don’t use any fragrance which is a big no-go for rosacea skin like mine. This product doesn’t cause me any irritation, which is a big plus.

Will I Re-Purchase?

I do think this cleanser helps to keep my skin feeling soft, but I’m not blown away by its performance of cleansing the skin and lifting makeup. I’ll use the remaining product, but I wouldn’t buy it again for £5.99 but perhaps if it were half price, I’d be tempted.
